The classes of prohibited substances and methods on the World Anti-Doping Code 2008 Prohibited List include:

Prohibited substances

Anabolic agents
Agents with anti-oestrogenic activity
Beta-2 agonists
Cannabinoids*
Glucocorticosteroids*
Diuretics and other masking agents
Narcotics*
Hormones and related substances
Stimulants (excluding caffeine, pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine, phenylpropanolamine, pipradol)*.

Prohibited methods

Enhancement of oxygen transfer (blood doping; products that enhance the uptake, transport or delivery of oxygen)
Gene doping
Chemical and physical manipulation.

* prohibited in-competition only (not prohibited out-of-competition).
